Today after reading an article about how the fruit company plans to introduce continuity as an innovation, I just chuckled to myself. Again, the fruit folks are sitting there watching all the innovation going on in Ubuntu and scrambling to try to take the ideas, recode them on their own locked down proprietary systems, and implement them for profit. As…

Making Skype and your Mic Submit under the power of Ubuntu 13.10
It’s sad that we’re even using Skype on Ubuntu considering it’s owned by a company with zero interest in open source… but alas, some habits die hard and we don’t want this little program to prevent you from realizing that Ubuntu is, by far, the best thing that will happen to your computer life (and other parts as well –…
How to Make Your Big External Drive an Ubuntu Studio computer With a Big Storage Drive Accessible by Any Ubuntu Computer
I was given a big hard drive by my friend so that I could start using Ubuntu Studio (‘USTUD’ from hereon in) and working on some audio. Ubuntu Touch Poised to Enter Market with New Smart Phone Partner
It is not often that one can be slightly ahead of a major change or curve. I like to document these moments in a blog post. Bit Coin was my last one. People thought I was crazy to accept Bit Coin at my coffee shop and just a few months (not years) afterwards people were coming back and asking, “how…

Echolink for Amateur Radio: Why is it still the best kept secret?
I’ll admit that I’ve been a weekend warrior ham man for too many years. I’m definitely not the guy to have the right to complain about anything based on my participation in the community. That said, my name is VE7CAK and I’m back. And I’m here to stay – God willing and the creek don’t rise. Special thanks to VA7OBI…
Ubuntu – How do you Pronounce the Word Ubuntu- Part 2
You may have read my first article called ‘How Do You Pronounce the Word Ubuntu?’ It got no shortage of fame and created such a controversy out there that I had to fend off the Paparazzi with my bare hands and sleek ninja style. I like to tell myself that anyways. What matters is that the subject is still relevant…
How to go around Google’s market/play: Manual installs of .apk files
This post is more for myself but if it works then I’ll leave it up for others. Goal: To be able to put any .apk file on my Android phone without having to use a google account and use their servers Problem summary: It seems as though Android doesn’t come with a .apk file installer, even though it is widely…
Why Ubuntu: A Bird’s Eye View
I have been a happy member of the Ubuntu community and user of the product for years now. Today I decided to ask the internet ‘why’. I had my own reasons why but I wondered what Mr. WWW was telling people. I was surprised. I couldn’t find any short summary. It was all too product-based or too philosophy based but…
